Seventh Sunday of Pentecost Season
Luke 10:1-7
Reflection 1
Laborers for God’s Kingdom
Jesus had already sent the twelve on mission. Now he appointed a further group of seventy and sent them two by two ahead of Him and gave them specific instructions.
We are called to emulate the disciples. We too are responsible for the mission of evangelization and spreading God's peace in our communities and beyond. Our prayer life plays a crucial role in this mission.
The first task is to pray
Jesus instructs them to pray sincerely to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. This prayer is a crucial aspect of their mission. By praying to the Lord of the harvest, the disciples affirm God's sovereignty over the mission. They acknowledge that He alone can prepare hearts, call workers and empower them for the task at hand.
A thought for the week
How can we become more sensitive to the needs of others?
How do we show compassion to needy people?
Application to Daily Life
Prayer
Lord, help us to spread your name and your Word in this world. Help us to be the light in the darkness. Help us to be bold and unwavering in our quest to reach the lost and dying world that touches us each day. May our lives be a reflection of your love and a testament to your Gospel. Amen.
